Hi,
I'm in the market for a peak charger and I narrow it to 2 choices, what would be the ideal charger for me a Novak Ionic which has a .05, 1, 4 amps and a disharge rate of 10 amps or a Duratrax Piranha charger which has a 1-5 amps of charge, from what I read somewhere that the lower the amp charge rate the longer the run time the battery has and the higher the charge rate the more punch you will get. I am looking for runtime here and I think that having a 1 amp charge rate is too low while having a 2-3 amp charge rate is descent, what do you guys think.
I will be using a NiMh 3300.
Thanks

I bought a Dynamite Vision Peak charger and I love it! It will charge NiMH/NiCd and LiPo and is completely adjustable. My wife's factory NiMH in her RC18MT gets about 25 minutes of run time with a Mamba 8Kv brushless charged at .8amps. Plus I can charge anything!
check out the superbrain 977 pro, great charger for $100. Charges up to 3s lipo and led acid as well as nimh/nicd batteries, adjustable from 1 to 5 amps and also discharges at up to 4 amps, did I mention it can charge two packs at once, check it out, I replaced a well worn 959 superbrain when this charger came out and I am very happy, best $100 charger around IMO, ac power supply and dc power clips are included.

Of the two you asked about the digital piranha is my favorite, but the only drawback is the max rate on AC power is 3 amps. It seems you aren't concerned with the charge rate though so it is a better choice.

yea but if hes running say a 2400 nicad its really going to be flat.you want tom make sure that your at the bare minimum for charging.
say you got a rc1500
1500=to be charged at 3.0amps for best performanceand life.you could go 4 for more punch and less life.2 would be the opposite but its really bleh.if you can afford it id go with a

more than enough amps you need.i charge my rc2400s at 4.8amps(2400x2=4800 erase the 00 you have 48 add a decimal you have 4.8)
this is what i use

I had a vision peak before I bought a Turbo35BL. That little charger rocked. Best non-computerized charger I've used and seen others use.

Just bought an IONIC (DC Only) from the hobby store. Hooked it up to the car battery. Was unable to charge my pack. After fiddeling around, I got it to charge at 1AMP. Takes only two days to charge the pack. Went home, thought the battery was too low on input. Tried the same on a stabilized 13.8V 12 Amp power supply. Did not charge at 4 Amp. No power supply connected error. I don't know if it would false peak since I never got to charge my pack at 4 Amp. Some research across the Internet revealed that other owners had the same problem. Mine is now on its way to Novak. Hope they have a fix. It seems that Novak (unfortunately) released a bunch of IONIC's with factory problems. I guess they tested it with higher input voltage and PASSED them. Just a Guess! I am not really happy with this outcome although the charger sold for rather cheap.
