I just bought a GM Racing V4r ESC. Upon opening the box, I noticed it did not have an on/off switch. I'm very used to having this feature as having to take off the body every time I want to run because I have to connect the batteries to the ESC is annoying. Looking at the ESC, it has external solder tabs with what looks to be 14 gauge wire soldered to them.

Can I splice on a switch between either the pos. or neg. wires connecting the unit to the battery? I'm hesitant to do so because I'm afraid the high current draw will damage the switch and/or ESC. I plan to transfer this ESC to the RS4 Micro later on and since the little car uses a 4-5 cell pack and a 60 turn mini motor, would a switch from a Futaba radio kit work? Thanks.

I dont think you should try because it might not work and you can kiss that warranty goodby. You sure it does have a push button on/off switch?BTW you have to take off the body to change the batt anyway...

you can try one of this
Airtronics Standard Switch Harness Z (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p.pgm?Q=1&I=LX0947&P=0)

hope this helps!

That's a very good point, Mason. I don't think altering the wires will void the warranty, but you never know...

Yes, I'm absolutely sure there is no switch, even the instructions say you need to disconnect the ESC in order to turn it off. I know I'll be taking off the body to change batteries anyways, but I like to have the extra convenience that a switch provides.

Vex, that might work, but I'm afraid the thin wires won't be able to stand up to higher current. They may be fine in a RS4 Micro, but I'm not sure about a 1/10 car.

Thanks for the help, guys.
