The Novak Cyclone 2 or the LRP SR/7.1.

Did RCCA ever do review on any of them?

what car are you putting it in?

The LRP is SMALL, but I think Novak puts out a better product honestly. And the customer support kicks a$$!

I've only dealt with LRP (Associated) once, but the guy was really cool and even faxed me the manual I need like 2 minutes after I got off the phone with him. So they're pretty much rock too on the support end.

I have both. On a strictly performance perspective, you will probably not notice the difference. I can't, but I am far from an expert.
My only complaint about the LRP 7.1 does not have easily replaceable wires, like the C2 has.
The new Quantum controllers from LRP are really stinking expensive ! The top one (competition, I think) is over $100 more than a C2 ...
The C2 is new tech and the 7.1 is "last year's model" so to speak.
The C2 has more gizmos (can be hooked to Pit Wizard and monkey'd with for days !), but it that ugly orange :p

A pit wizard lets you reconfigure the power settings inside of the cyclone series ESCs (c2, tc2, cyclone, etc). Basically it changes how the ESC responds to trigger pull, powerband, etc - its very similar to what they use to reconfigure the injectors on superbikes :)

I know that RCCA reviewed the C2, about a month after they came out, I am not sure what issue, but, if you look at the home page, for past articles, you will be able to find it quite easily.

jeep, you know, you CAN dye the case.... I had a friend that did that, turned out pretty good.

I think the orange looks awesome!

Anyway, yes, RCCA has reviewed both of the ESC's. As was said before, the Quantum models are arriving, with the top-end one around $200! But since a lot of racers need to have the best gear, you'll probably be able to find a bunch of V7.1's cheap on EBay, so look for them.

i would go with the Novak. personally i think 200 bucks for an ESC is outrageous. but i guess they are seriously good ESC's. my friend has a TC2 in his TC3 and does great at races and has never failed him yet.

I personally have the Novak's Reactor and LRP V7.1. I enjoy the V7.1 much more than the Reactor. And so far the performance of the V7.1 hasn't disappointed me. It is a great ESC.

tc2 combined with a pitwizard. youll have lots of setup possibilities. you can even change the drive frequency.
