Which is better, having a reverse or brake option? I've always used ESC with reverse however some people suggest that I should start using and ESC with a brake and no reverse. Is it better or all just preference? I heard racing you are not allowed to use reverse, is that true? What ESC are good; I'm looking at the Tekin Rebel Reverse or Novak Rooster Reverse however leaning towards the Tekin since it has more features. Please let me know the pros & cons. Thanks.

Some racing organizations do not allow you to run with reverse. But there are however some organizations that do. If racing is not your thing however then get a reversing ESC. It's much easier to back out of some situations, than having to go retrieve your car everytime. There are several good ESC's on the market including the ones you mentioned. I prefer LRP.
As far I know they all have a braking feature. Some come with a reversing feature which you can disable should you desire too.

The Rebel and Rooster are pieces of junk. I suggest LRP. On some ESCs, the reverse can be diasbled.

Most local tracks don't care if your ESC has reverse, they just don't want you to use the reverse function while racing; they don't want you backing into traffic and wrecking somebody else. Dedicated racers choose forward-only ESCs because they have less resistance than reversing units. If you only race casually or infrequently, and spend most of your time playing, stick with a reversing ESC.
I don't know what experience the_yawn has had with Novak ESCs, but I've found them to be excellent, as are Tekin and LRP speedos.

My experiance is just the opposite, that the Novaks are better made then the LRP. I have 3 Novaks ranging from 3 months to 3 years old. My LRP died after one year.
