Dang, been a while since starting a thread in this place

Home for a few days & picked this up $150 shipped from the classifieds at RCU. (don't hate) :p

Looks to be an older Dumas hull thats in wonderful shape. Engine & radio. Radio is fine, but the engine has seen better days.

Tore it down and the bearings were loaded with junk. Decided while it was apart to do a rough buff job as it will mainly be setting on my display shelf. Not a bling job but machine style. Looks pretty good huh?

engine buff job.

Thought to go ahead and open the exhaust while in there but decided against it as I may never run it.

Would be nice to run this thing and let it bring back some memories of the early days with the old Prather Lap Cat.

If anyone has a new piston / cylinder kit for cheap money let me know. I stripped a bolt out trying to remove the head to it might be some trouble. I've got another new 3.5 sitting in the box that could be swapped out but its my collectors item.

DD i may have some K&B stuff you'd be interested in. engine, pipe, spare outdrive. hell, if you really want memories of a lap cat, the engine is attached to one! no more nitro for me anymore.

Hey bud, how ya' been? Miss your old job?

I'm home on R & R and had this thing in the mail waiting on me. Still have a few months left over there and can't wait to get back. Got all the support equipment to make it run, but like you, I'm not into nitro.

Just looking for the right boat to sit on the shelf. Would really like a nice glass Hotshot II if could find one for cheap.

Ya sure got it lookin' purty as those K&B's aren't the easiest things to shine up.
Give Gary Preusse a call while you're back in the States at 630-279-2451. If anybody has the parts and can get them to you quickly, it's Gary.
If it's going to be a shelf queen then I'd leave it dead stock also but I know that your going to want to make a few passes with it

We do need something like what the flyers have, a Society of Antique Boat Modelers. It was brought up a couple of years ago as an exhibition class to be run at the Internat's. I know where there are some vintage R/C boats stashed away in a barn.

i know a hobby shop that is full of old stuff. too bad they still charge $250 for a lap cat! i call it the antique store. i go there for odd ball items and props. not exactly paving the way into the next level of the hobby in that shop. btw, if anyone is looking for some old-school gear, let me know, i may be able to get it there. only problem is that the prices get kinda high. for example, still charging full retail for the MRC miss bud. (MRC right? not MRP? mixing brands in my head again). i think it's around $230-$250, ouch.

MRP is right. MRC (Model Rectifier Corporation) was at one time part of Tamiya.
