Ive been looking on maxamps for some new batteries and I came across gp4300 batteries in a "shotgun pack" Are these the same as buying 6 cells and soldering them together yourself?? What are the disadvanteges and advanteges to using this pack if there the same exact cells except put in a pack?

You can usually build a slightly more efficient/cooler running pack if you make a "side by side" pack as opposed to a stick or shotgun format. Buying an assembled side by side pack, or the pieces to assemble a side by side pack yourself, will yield slightly better performance. The cells are the same, but the overall construction of the pack can handle current better.

Swap the zinc tab connector for a good battery bar or even battery braid, throw out the Tamiya connector and use either Deans or Sermos (power poles) connectors for less resistance. For wire try either 12, 13 even 14 guage will suffice depending on price.
