when i'm running my car i see lots of sparks near the engine or some close to the engine and it will smell like burring rubber after a while,it never used to do this. Is it suppose to do this
Whoa, you better stop running it right now! Got a couple questions first.
Where exactly are the sparks coming from? Pinpoint them and tell me.
Do you have aluminum rims?
What car is this on?
Did you hit something and then this stated to occur?
Is it from INSIDE your engine?
Need a little more infor before we can pinpoint the location. BTW, this is the electric forum, and if your talking about an electric, here's a little 'guidline.' Engines are nitro/gas, and motors are electric. Which one is it?

I didn't hit anything it just started and don't know how . I can't realy tell where the spark is exactly coming from but it is right next to the brushes, and somtimes there are sparks coming from the other side of the motor(near the other brush) .my car is electric, and i don't have aluminum rims
Oh, a little spark out of the motor is normal near the bushes. As for the smell, I cant explain. Mine dont smell like that.

i know there is suppoce to be little sparks by the brushes. But this ones are huge and there are alot of them, and they somtimes are in different places. i use to have those little normal ones but they have gotten alot bigger and are in different places.

Remember to wear your Nomex next time you play with your car. Oh, and keep a extinguisher nearby :D
Big sparks are no good. Burning rubber is no good.
Things to check:
1) Remove the pinion and see if everything spins free. If not, find the bind.
2) While the pinion is off, spin the motor if you can (or take it out all together and put the pinion on for easier spinning) and see if it turns freely. If not oil it !
3) Check for debris in the motor can.
Ummm ... you really should get this fixed before you play again. Otherwise it might get a tad expensive to fix !

If you use comm drops they could be burning in the sparks like mine do and they smell like burning rubber its a pretty nasty smell. My motors run fine with that smell.
