I have the Protrax version and my godkid has the plain Rustler with an ESC. Only upgrades I made were changing the Stinger to a Reedy Firehawk and changing the shocks to aluminum ones! XXXer, where did you find parts!? I've been looking for Titanium parts and no one seems to have anything :/

Only titanium i can find is the Lunsford punishers, they are liek 30 bux, they are the best though, ever break or bend them, they replace tehn for free, no ?'s asked
BTW, i think means, BY THE WAY!!

Flying Trucks, my rustler (the one in the picture) has a 13t spedgems (the silver one, not the pink one.. the pink ones in my 4-tec) and it cant keep u w/the 4-tec but its darn close. My run times are 9+ min depending on how much i flip

I have both a Nitro Rustler and a Protrax Rustler. I have seriously hopped up each one and both are fast trucks. I recently put a Trinity Speed Gems Ruby 16 Turn motor into the electric and used a 16 tooth pinion gear. The top speed went down a bit, but the thing has tons of torque and will climb like a goat. Geared correctly, the Traxxas XL-1 ESC will handle hot mod motors. The gearing is the key. The Nitro Rustler has full bearings and a complete set of big bore aluminum shocks and Losi springs. This truck will out drag a Nitro Quake! Long live the Rustlers!

I have started my own project rustler which includes: A slipper clutch, ball diff, Team Associated shocks, factory team titanium turnbuckles, Speed Hawg 2's, a Ford F-150 body, Agitator wheels, Novak Dually, Sanyo 3000 cells; and I even cut out the mechanical servo compartment so that I could move the battery pack back or forward or put in a 7 cell pack! But one thing caught my eye in the December Issue.... those gpm aluminum parts! Ive tried the website and they will mail order them for me. However, it would be alot cheaper to go to an LHS and buy them there. Does anyone know of a Hobby store near Los Angeles that might carry the parts (I dont think Hobby People does...)?

If this thread lasts long enough I should have some pics of it in about 2 weeks. It looks sweet; I converted it to a street truck for now.

Well.....I have a rustler with an 11-turn, duratrax streak esc, bearings,("that's quick, that's REAL quick") tower hobbies radio system, pro-line dirt-hawgs on clawz rims and a set of slicks(the original tires http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif) on traxxas chrome rims.
the whole package does about 35+ mph if i wanted to gear it that way, but i havent checked in awhile, it's prolly slowed down cuz i don't take very good care of my batteries.
this started out as a rtr rustler, i got a traxxas esc for it, melted that running in the rain, got a 11-turn kyosho 11-turn, waited 2 weeks of pure torture for the esc to come in, ran that for a while, went throught several pairs of cheap tires, finally got a new body(the current 1) and some real tires and wheels...the first time i ran the new tires i turned and they came off the rims and went rollin down the street(pretty funny in retrospect!) b/cuz i never glued them and had never glued tires b4...i then got small bearings, tore them up several times b4 i realized i needed bigger 1's, got the large bearing carriers by rpm, 5x11 sealed bearings, haven't touched em for 6 months..the front wheels slowly rock back and forth until they come to rest gently on the heavy spot...thats one smooth axle setup
after all that work, now i mostly jump it, it's still got plastic shocks, stock springs, all plastic parts except the rear turnbuckles whoch i had to buy adjustable steel versions of.
I have a homemade track in my backyard...old pine needles, i'ts an intersting surface, perfect to drive on, a lotta fun.
I have learned just about everything about rustlers the hard way, feel free to ask me any questions, there aint no stupid 1's (tho some people sure think so)...now i run it mostly on the slicls b/c the pro-line tires are so good that i can traction-roll the truck, and my style is more drift-driving type.
ask me n e thing http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif
