I just got my TC3 built last night. It looks like a sweet car. I am currently using some cheap 1400mah batteries and an older stock trinity motor. I'd like to keep it legal for stock racing, but those batteries and motor **** pretty bad. Can anyone recommend what motor and batteries I should be using?

hey well first off those 1400s need to go, go out and get yourself some 2400s at your local hobbie shop for around 50 60 unless you are on a budget.

motors, if you are going to race and the track is tight invest in the phantom p2k or p2k pro, if the track is wide and open get the gm3 , and finally if the track is a little of both get the reedy mvp which i am using right now.

and a big tip, when getting into r/c dont go out and buy all the cheap stuff first and then go spend a fourtune getting the good stuff, just wait the trip so you save $$$ , i know that i regret buying a lot of junky esc's and batteryies and chargers just so i could get some runs in at the track. just get the best and get success

i hope i answered some of your questions.

The best batteries for stock racing will always be 1700's, but they are very short in supply now, but they do offer the most puch of any batteries out there, you run a higher risk of dumping, but many people do not, with a high quality charger, that peaks it to its max. 2000's have more puch than 2400's or 3000's, but still, the run time is not as much.

Stick with the best motor available, P2K Pro. That is the best standby motor available, it is a die hard when it comes to maintenance, etc. If your track is huge, and i mean huge, the only RPM stock motor available, is the Reedy Rage, Type R, it has more RPM's than the green machine, but less torque, on anything less than a huge, open track, this motor is useless.

I agree. The only reason I have a lot of crap is because I've been racing on and off for about 20 years. I'm just getting back after a 3-4 year hiatus. A lot has changed since the old school aluminum chassis RC10's!

Hey, know any good places to order a phantom p2k pro online?

I disagree. I have several 1800's, 2000's and 2400's. The only test I know that can accurately measure a packs "punch" is one that tests internal resistance. The lower the resistance, the higher the voltage output and less heat.

Using Victor IQ tester, and from my own experience, a higher mAH pack will always supply more punch, and a higher "hole shot" voltage as well.

I agree with XXXer, 1700s rule with my stock Orion and TC3, they are matched Fantom packs too and run really well. 2000's would run very well too, but both of these cells have been discontinued havent they? Better off going for 2400's.

Not meaning to spur a debate on which batts give the most punch but...

I have seen racers get 2000 (or 2400 for that matter), cylcle the batter 2 or 3 times and then compare it to their well-worn-in 1700's or 1800's. Of course the worn in battery will perform better.

Try this - when you switch to a higher capacity battery, ONLY use the newer battery for a few weeks. Then try a race or two with your older batteries.

I think you will see the newer batts performing better.

I agree with XXXer also about the 1700s... Even one of the editors (i think greg not sure) said that 1700s had more punch and he used them on his duel motored tao3 or something like that...

P2ks rule, bigger track, just gear up the awsome torque allows you to run 1-2 teeth higher than normal!
