Ive been thinking that over the years I have about 20 rc cars/trucks. If you take the initial purchasing cost and add everything that you bought for the vehicle before you sold it, how much did you spend?
My first money pit was my Clod, after buying everything I could to make it an awesome crawler I realized I had over 900.00 dollars in it and about 60 hours of building time.
My second was my TMAXX, Im kinda ashamed to say but I put about 1500.00 dollars into that truck and only sold it for 850.00 on ebay.
For me this a Hobby so I put forth alot of time and effort along with mad money to make it the best that I can. Does anyone else seem to get over indulged and find that if it came to eating or buying rc parts that buying rc parts takes priority. :o :D :p
Tell me about your money pits and your over indulged stories of this great RC hobby of ours!!

I do now. HV-Maxx powered after having 4 stock motors and 4 trinity Monster Wild motors. There isn't much left stock on that truck as any of the other trucks that are in the quadruple digits!

My wife's T-Maxx. Started life as a Mgic Wheels $200 RTR new. Converted everything to T-Maxx and she had to have aluminum all over it, so it became too heavy for the OS .18CV-r so it was big block time. About $1600 later, she has an all aluminum Mach .26 powered T-Maxx that just sits on the shelf and looks pretty!! Am I a sucker or what?!!!

lets see
Savage 25 = Purchase price ($420?)
Losi Mini T = Purchase price ($99)
Losi XXXNT = bought used for $250
HPI Nitro RS4 3 SS = $1200
HPI Micro RS4 = purchase price + $80
Traxxas Nitro Sport = purchase price ( $250 ) sold for $130
i dont go over the top with my rc cars ( aside from my RS4 3 SS, my first rc car) i like to race, and i buy what i need to go fast if i think its needed and THATS IT. i learned the hard way from my first car that all the bells and whistles are alot of $$$$ and serve NO perpose.

My biggest money pit is my car.
1991 Chrysler Daytona 3.0 - Free
New a604 transmission and shift cpu - $2400
New summer and winter tires - $1200
lucas oil stabilizer in oil changes - $100
Magnaflow fart can - $160 (getting it installed sometime this week :D )
cd player and 6x9s - $499.98 (not kidding, thats what I payed with taxes)
Paint for front bumper - $80
Getting it painted by a professional in exchange for helping pour a driveway - priceless
I plan on a 52mm t/b from a minivan 3.0 and a custom intake of some sort. So that will probably be another $200 or so.
Thats alot of money for a car I don't really like. Though I love it since I have so much money into it and it rides so nicely
I have about $5000 total into all 4 of my rc's so its not really my money pit yet.

Money pits ?????????
RC's are nothing compared to boats and all the crap that goes with that.
Heck, so far this summer I'm spending $200 a weekend on gas just for the boat. I'm afraid to figure out what the PWC's (4 of em) are using.
Six years ago the wife & I decided to get a boat. That led to a new, bigger boat then a newer, bigger one. Which led to a bigger tow vehicle. Then came the lake house. Then came the first PWC. Then 3 more. I hope I'm near the bottom of this pit but I'm afraid I'm not.

I've got quite a bit into my RCs, considering I'm 14 and don't have a job yet....
TC3 - about $1000
Micro RS4 - about $450
Blade CP Heli - soon to be $100 (<--lol)
My parents are ok with me spending money on this hobby, even as expensive as stuff is at times... they're glad that this hobby is what it is and it actually has a point - unlike... say games (which, if I got into, would probably amount to how much I spent on all my RCs eventually anyway)
I'm also gonna get Realflight G3 soon:)
