I have purchased the aluminum steering assemblies by both integy & 3racing for the 18t and both force the stock ball studs into the diff cases causing me to lose most of my throw. I tried the TC3 studs, which are the perfect length, but they are 4.2mm and the ball cups bind on them. I have also tried 3racing ball studs, but they are the same length as the stock.

I have 2 18T's, one with a stock servo and the other with the HS-56HB and the same problems with both.
Has anyone successfully installed any of these steering assemblies?

Has anyone else ran into the same problems as I?
If so, where do I find 4mm studs short enough to allow full throw?

Has anyone tried to go with full TC3 ball studs and tie rods? Do they fit and are they the correct length?

Thanks a bunch,
wheeleze

Dump the cheap aluminum crap that don't work. The Driven Pro unit is what you want.

Thanks for your advice. I think I'm going to go with the DP link. I was hoping to add some weight to the front, but now I'm thinking of putting a buggy body on the 18T and use the front body mounts for a wing. I'll be running a 8000Kv mamba with a 2000mah 3s lipo, so I have to figure out how to keep it on the pavement at speeds in excess of 65.

I do agree about the diff's which is why I'll have aluminum cases, ti outdrives, 3 sets of balls and rings, and 5 sets of gears. This is all for an onroad setup though. I opted for the 5400kV and a 1800 2c for offroad. I just want better steering.

I'm sad to say that I don't think I'll purchase anymore ae products after all the fixes I've had to get for this truck. I first purchased an rc10 in 90, then rc10t, rc10b2, rc10t3 and I needed no mods to get the cars to go strait, have the diffs last more than a week, or keep a pebble out of the gears whether they were FT or not. Granted, I do own a Savage, and helped a friend with a Revo, so I'm no novice to little mods to make up for engineering errors, but I just expected it more from HPI and traxxas than ae.
