i've been wanting to get a car for awhile and even though i've never owned one, i was thinking about a TC3 or RS4 Pro3. if i go with either one, which type should i get? i want a kit that has alot of available upgrades to make the car go, uh, fast.
thanks in advance!

Well the TC3 would be your choice... one, it's upgradable and there are plenty of aftermarket parts for it... two, the car has speed, with the right motor and gear set up
Also, what is your buget? cause the Pro 3 is like around $199 and the TC3 varies from $160 to $299 ;)

the prices that you give, that's for everything i would need to run the car, right?
i just got a new job, so i can afford to pay for quality.
Dr. R - Those prices were for the kit only. In addition you'll need the following -
.radio ($100-$300) recommend FM and supports several cars, if you'll think you may possibly end up with more than one car
.motor - stock ($35-$40)
.Speed Control ($65-$140)
.Batteries ($60-$85 per set)
(btw- if you don't get a car right away- you may want to check out the Losi XXX-S that's coming out soon) ;)

Dude that was just the car kits!!!! everything else like motors, batteries, charger, body, maybe wheels, paint for body, esc, the list goes on... you gotta be willing to fork over bones like that if you're gonna be into RC... just remember. if people tell you not to spend your money on toys like this... tell them "HEY!!!! IT'S A HOBBY!!!!" :p

how many types of TC3's are there? and why is the rtr so cheap? is it that an rtr won't have as much potential as the other TC3's?

Hey Dr. R
The TC3 comes in 3 kits...
Racer-$149 w/body (various)
Team-$204 w/o body
Factory-$299 w/o body, w/o wheels
the racer has basic set ups for beginners, the team has some upgrades... but the factory has everything you need from ti rods to adjustable aluminum dampers...

Dr.R here are the TC3 kits.
RTR which I believe is the racer kit with a budget radio, motor, and I think an esc, but it may only be an MSC. If its an MSC you will want to trade up for an ESC asap ;-)
then there is the racer kit which is only a rolling chassis, it needs a motor, battery pack, charger (preferably a peak detection charger), radio, some tools to finish it, CA glue.. did I leave anything out?
the next kit is the team kit, that gives you factory team aluminum CVD (constant velocity drives) aluminum shock bodies, and little blue wheel nuts, also you get titanium turnbuckles. parts you will need? same as the racer kit, but you will also need a lexan body for it.
the factory team kit is the loaded kit. It has all the factory team goodies in the box, too many to list so check it out at like www.towerhobbies.com. (http://www.towerhobbies.com.) It will need the same things as the racer kit, but also the lexan body and tires and wheels.
hope this helps you out some.
