The IMDRA held their second national race of the year in Rialto California. Excellent drag racing. Inside R/C filmed the event for future broadcast.

The amount of traction compound you guys use is rediculous! That's a cool side of the sport that doesn't get much attention.

Yes I love that part too. Almost makes up for the lack of a true burn out. Actually a lot of people use too much. I use a two stage set-up. The first layer is secret the seond layer is a very thin coating of Koford. When I get to the line I move the car backwards and forwards to coat the starting line and remove most of the excess before I start revving the car. This way the Koford stays on the ground not all over. Its all gone by about 6 ft. Thats the purpose of the 'secret' layer I use. The top fuel cars spin those big slicks all the way to the traps. You can't run a top fuel car on anything but a well prepared surface. They won't get any traction. I used to 'street race' my electric funny car but no way with the rail. Its an up and coming sport lots of fun and pretty economical to run.

Door slammers are big in your neck of the woods. Mark Price lives in NYC. He has some awesome cars. He's the man to beat in Pro Mod. He paints some wicked dragsters. I think there are races in NYC. If not in the area. Go check one out sometime its wild and wooly. Amazing how fast you can go with 3.5cc or 20 batteries :) The thing I really like about drag racing is you can't just spend your way to the top. Believe me I tried it. I've seen some junkyard dog cars that can put anyone away. Its all about preperation. Getting everything so perfect for that run. In nitro it really comes down to racing each others tune up skills. The motors are modified to the extent a 2-3 degree temp change will require some adjustment. So every run is a new deal pretty much. And its all or nothing when you go to the line. You either have it right or you go home. Like compressing all the excitment of a 40 minute main into less than 2 seconds. But you get at least 4 mains :)
