Time for a Cool Change

I have a E-Stampede with a stock setup. Lately, I've been interested in upgrading to a Team Orion 15T motor and a Novak XRS ESC. As a newbie in this sport I need input about what spur gear and pinon gear to get and where.

A general rule of thumb with the Stampede is to use a pinion gear with 2 fewer teeth than the motor has turns (assuming your spur gear is stock or close to stock size). So for a 15T motor try a 13 tooth pinion gear. You can stick with the stock 87 tooth spur. You can also experiment with different gearing besides 13/87, as long as you're careful not to gear too high and toast the motor or ESC. 13/87 is just a good starting point.

You can get pinions or spurs at many websites like www.towerhobbies.com or, better yet, take a trip to a local hobby shop. Make sure the gears you buy are 48 pitch.
