Lightning McQueen & other "Cars" character bodies

Does anyone know if any company has any plans to produce some on-road car bodies for characters from the movie?

Probably not... Pixar would probably demand 2/3rds of the profits from every shell... there aren't many manufacturers who would be interested in a sucky deal like that.

But who knows... maybe Pixar will release some rubbery plastic toys in the right scale and you can rip out the guts and strap the shells on one of your chassis... they'd be heavy, but they'd be indestructible.
