Hi me and my brother are into RC alot me more than him. He is thinking about buying a modified motor. Probably a 19 turn. His ESC can handle down to a 15 turn. Could you suggest a lower cost but a good motor. I like Orions but I wanted to get him the best motor with the lowest maintence. I have a 17 by 2 Orion and it is a great motor. I wanted to know if there was a better 19 turn.THANKS
P.S it is his birthday and I was going to buy it for him :D

19turn motors fall in between a modified and stock motor in terms of speed.
There are two types of 19turn motor made, Spec 19turn are used in offroad and touring car or the Spec 19turn class in oval racing, 19turn mod (legal in oval only) use handwound armatures, adjustable endbells based on modified cans (Reedy Ti, Trinity D5,D6 and Cobalt, TOP sold by orion, peak, Checkpoint) using standard size standup brushes. The modified 19turns are more costly than the 19turn Spec motors and slightly faster.
A true modified would be those in the 5 to 17 turn range with most handwound made in the 6-14 turn while handwound some build them from 7 to 21 turns.
The only way to reduce wear on any type motor reduce as much strain as possible - gear it conservatively experiment with finding the right spur and pinion or just pinion that works best, then drop a tooth to reduce wear. If you are not racing replace the brushes with a lower silver brushes, for stock and some of the 19turn motors try a Red spring on Pos, Green on negative for modifieds 16-18 turn same springs as stock and 19turn then increase tension using two reds or purple/red for those below 12 turns. The springs that come with some motor tend to be to light with motor reduces it maximum rpm ranges in use, which allows the brush to bounce and wear prematurely.
The Trinity 19turn Komodo seems to have the best overal power of all the 19turn Spec type motors, but the Reedy, Orion, Peak 19turn Spec versions are good - it comes down to gearing each differently.

I have a Trinity 19t turn and it works great, I've only run it about 5 times but from those 5 times it never got too hot (I have a heat sink) and it never decreased in performance. My brother got it off ebay for my birthday so even though it was brand new it didn't come with a sheet so I think its modified but I'm not sure.

Trinity began making different versions of 19turn motors some conform to different RC Sanctioning bodies rules. 19Turn Spec (ROAR offroad/touring car sedans) oval (ARCOR) SPEC class. 19turn mod (ROAR) Pro (ARCOR) oval racing. Another version with P94 style brushes and binary magnets doesn't confirm to any of the rules but would be a bashing or club motor.
