What discharger do you guys like using. I am looking at the dischargers and some discharge at 20amps(like the W.S. Deans) and some discharge at 5amps(like the Trinity real time). What discharger do i want for my 1900 to 2400 Ni-cds? And someone told me to get a black box with the deans discharger. But i can't find a black box. Thanks Jason R
I prefer to discharge them at 20 amps. 30 amps is good too (but I cant afford one of those dischargers. 5 amps is too little, but better than nothing at all. The Black Box II is made by W.S. Deans. It's a voltage cut off that will cut the discharger as soon as the pack reaches a certain amount of volts.
The Black Box has been discontinued.

Actually, it's cheap.. :) Aluminum plate, on it mounted a .8 ohm resistor, and wired in parallel I wired a 1.5 ohm resistor, which gives this little discharger a 12 amp load on the battery. To it I hook a voltmeter and cutoff the cells at .85-.95 volts. Very little cost, but works perfectly.

My personal preference has always been the good old string of lights, just pull them when it gets down to only having the coils glow. :)

Oster, **** slick. Old Delco ballast for a points type car right? Actually 13.8 amp at 7.2 volts (theoretically). Hate to barge in but I've got a similar question. With the lights you're supposed to stop at about 5v (deans) but those battery trays run them to nothing and it's said to be OK to leave them in the tray. What gives, what it better?
