You should be able to get a NIB 3.5 for under 200. Going used is a crap shoot, that & normally does not pay for the money saved. Go new if you can!

The SS is a little harder to tune when running, it has to be set slobbering rich. After having one, I preferred the water-cooled angine for dependability.

I have a SS that has been massaged by Precision Boats and it runs too well to pass for stock class in our club. If you can find one, the new SX is a hot ticket with watercooled head. If you go with the older 3.5 make sure you get the ones with the gold carb. I hate digital servos in boats BTW. Get a good high torque servo that is standard and you will be much happier in the long run. A HS- 645 MG will do fine.
I actually like to run the STOCK Airtronics 102's for steering in my .21 OB's. They are not too strong or fast and they make for a real forgivng boat. I have blown out two plastic gear sets in them with harsh flips though.

i think ill prolly end up getting the SS because i like the air cooled feature because my friends 3.5 watercooled in the water and afterwards it was cold it wouldnt even get hot, but we had to hurry to get it in the water because it got super hot without being in the water so with the air cooled i wont have to rush to get the boat in the water and id kinda like to get some big SS stickers and just put them on the side of the boat i think it would be cool having "K&B SS" on the side
