Well i think it would make a good carpet racer. some pros are it handles good, easy to work on,very adjustable,
some cons the belt system rubs on motor gear selsction is hard because if you use a smaller spur gear the belts rub on the motor bad it collects every little pebble too.

Belt rub isnt really an issue. As long as the belts are made of a high quality material it wouldnt harm it. And as the motor is smooth and round, the friction would be minimal. I have the same trouble with my OB4 Pro.

Pros
Traxxas support
Really is RTR other then batteries
Painted body.
Good play car
Parts support readily available
Great car for the money ($169.00 with radio at Tower)
Cons
Not that good handling compared to newer cars (or even most cars of it's day)
The biggest reason I wouldn't buy it? The Ofna RTR. For $300 you can get a truely race ready car with graphite chassis and shock towers, aluminum threaded shocks, lots of aluminum hop ups, a better speed control. Yeah it's nearly double the price, but you get hundreds of dollars worth of extras with it.

you will be much more pleased with a TC3. if you just plan on racing around on a parking lot, then go with a 4-tec. but it is not a very race worthy machine. the TC3 on the other hand is an excellent race machine and bery popular and has mony hop-up and easy to find replacement parts. go AE! go TC3!

oh i forgot to tell ya... the RTR TC3 is 240 on towerhobbies.com. it is 70 bucks more than the RTR 4tec, but the TC3 is t-maxx of touring cars!

yes belt rub is an issue it wears the belts out quicker it frays them from heat anything rubbing on something smooth or not is going to produce heat which is friction i should know i have owned one plus i bought new belts and they dont last long rubbing. So i switched to a TC3 the best car ever hands down #1
