Well, this morning I took the step back into RC cars. About 10 years ago I was knee deep into RC racing. Then, I got a license to drive. So I sold everything RC related.

I never did forget about racing. Or just the thrill of driving RC cars. So, this year I decided that it was time to make an order.

XXXer, guess which car I ordered? Well, I had to order from two places, since Tower doesn't carry any Losi products anymore. Yeah baby, the XXX is on it's way.

If you're all still reading this, and wondering why I'm typing all this out, hey come on! I'm excited to be back into the RC world.

Just thinking about trying out my new car, my new M8, and Cyclone... yeah!!! http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

If anyone reading this has any questions about getting back into, or getting into RC for the first time, drop me a line. In the past two months of "window shopping" on the net, I've learned a lot about the companies involved in the hobby.

I'll be sure to tell you who wins. What? Well, I ordered stuff from Horizon, and Tower within 10 mins of eachother, both with the same shipping. We'll see who gets my stuff here first. Any bets?

Welcome back! What shipping option did you take with Tower?

2 day with both Tower and Horizon. I was not about to wait 3 weeks for my stuff!! http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif You never know though, it might still take 3 weeks. hehe

Thanks for the welcome!

I'm in the same boat. I left the hobby about 10 years ago and just returned. I ordered my Yokomo MR4-BC from ehobbies though. The rest of the stuff I either won at auction on eBay or found at some small RC store online. It's not so simple to find an RC hobby store online. They really need to work the search engine scene more if they want to be noticed.

Thanks all! I'm certain I'll have fun...

XXXer, almost a coin toss. I started thinking about it more and more, and thought.. "I so enjoyed my last Losi kit, I should try this one out." And that was it. "click" and it's on the way.

I should have problems with the instructions. If I can build 350 chevys, 2.2 Turbo Dodges, and so on, the XXX should be a snap. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

Again, if anyone has questions, post em here. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

Wow, me too. I can't remember how long it has been, but probably about ten years also. Later years in high school, college, drinking and women got in the way. But now I am over all that stuff and have taken an interest in rcing again. It actually came back to me when I saw the T-Maxx and E-Maxx. I have always loved monster trucks, but when I saw these two, they were everything I had ever wanted in a monster rc. RCing engineering keeps improving every year, can't wait to see what things are like ten years from now.

it has been five years since I was into this hobby, and yet I find myself again stepping back to the good old days of RC racing...and it would all better too if my country had better race tracks and more people who care about this hobby, I guess that's what I get for living in a small country.

I'm not alone!! http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

The main reason for getting back into RC, heck... I can race all day for pennies. I've been drag racing full size cars, and that gets addictive and very SPENDY! So, here I am.

Ok, and my tax return helped out too. hehe

Welcome back all who's returning. We should start an "Old Fogey Racing Team" http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

Although not as "spendy" as drag racing, RC cars can become very addictive too. If you get the Old Fogey Racing Team going, count me in.

Oh I certainly realize the addictive natural of RC racing. ANY car racing in general is spendy!! hehe. Back in the day I spent well over $2000 on RC stuff. Albeit, a lot of that was wasted on stuff I didn't need. (Aluminum rims on a JRX-Pro?) but it was fun. Working at Pizza Hut at 15 years old was a good thing to support my RC habit.

I have car parts that are spendy now too! Fuel Rail - 250, Intake Manifold for a 2.2 Turbo T2 - 400, and it keeps going!! http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif So, I just went for RC, which is spendy but cheaper at the same time. Lesser of two evils I guess. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

Old Fogey club starts NOW! Email me at BoostedOmni@aol.com and I'll collect all your email addresses. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hey sign me up!

I started in RC about 14 years ago, kept up for about four years and then got to busy and too poor http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/redface.gif( (school has a way of doing that). But now I'm back with a vengeance! I drive an Ofna OB4 on the local carpet track (a first for me). I am thinking about reviving my old Javelin (kind of a Kyosho Optima), I still have most of the parts and I can make anything I'm missing. I'm not sure if I qualify as am 'Old Fogey' yet, I'm 27, but I'm at least 'Old School'.

OB4_DRIVER,

I saw a Javelin (mint in package unbuilt) sell on eBay for an obscene amount of money. I see Optima parts on there from time to time as well. Just search for "Kyosho Optima".

Hey. Nice to see others in the same boat. I came back after 10yrs too. First car was a Royal Crusher. They're not around anymore. Just put together my net T3 from HobbyPeople. They got it here in about a week, regular shipping. I'm in Peoria, IL, just down the road from Tower. Nothing against them, just felt better going west coast. I'm 24 and still paying off school loans, so cant afford much. But I do want to buy gas and don't know where to start. We didn't have much in terms of gas powered kits back in my day.

Well, Horizon won the battle. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif They got my XXX here on Tuesday. The Tower order isn't here yet. It should be here tomorrow. But, that's ok. Ran into a couple problems with the XXX kit. First, the front hinge pins were incorrect. A little too short. Then, one of the rear axles was too big in diameter so the bearing wouldn't go on. Lame huh? BUT, a quick call to Losi and I was taken care of by "Bill". He understood what was up without question, and got the part numbers. He said the parts are on the way, so we'll see how long that takes. BUT, the design of the XXX kit blows me away. A lot of NICE features that I'd never seen in an older kit. Obviously. But, very nice job desinging the XXX Losi, not a very nice job at the packaging department though. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

But, I'll get to drive my XXX soon, once the Tower order gets here, and so on. I'm almost there!!! http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif
