So I have 2 rustlers and a stampede that I beat to death. I am thinking of racing this season and was wondering what the most durable stadium truck for racing. T4, T3 ,XXX-T MF, XXX-T RTR or what. Tell me what you think.

I personally like my T3 I break arms every great once and a while but thats it and parts still seem to be plentyful and cheaper than the stuff for the T4.

good evening bigair78...i race the mf2, powered my a novak 6.5, and i have to say that maintenance has been very low. shocks are very easy to service, there's enough adjustments to get you dialed on any track condition. the truck can take a tumble and walk away without any probs, but if you hit something hard enough you'll break. i personally think its more durable than the other "side".

I maintain 2 Losi XXXT's (mine, and my son's) for racing, not bashing. We have very little breakage (one front A arm and a diff gear is about it this season) Mostly routine maintence issues. Overall, I think the Losi's are a good bet!

I race a T3 and is still competitive but not as much as a T4 is. My T3 is extremely tuff truck. For the whole time I've had it I've never broken a single arm or anything the only thing I've ever broken is bent a hinge pin or two. Never had a single problem besides that. For competitive racing though the FT T4 or the MF2 XXXT would be the best truck.

Wow, it's a toss up. I am going to call my lhs(45mins away) and see what all he carries as far as parts go. I have had a XXX-T in the past that I tried bashing with. It did pretty good other that the darn rear pivot block or what ever it is called. I don't know really.

I know you been here: http://www.ultimatetraxxas.com/rustler.html Being you already have the toughest truck in town now. Put it on a Jang diet. People have tried it and it Works! And every hobby shop carries parts for it! I would go this way;-)

How much $$$$ does all that stuff cost for the Traxxas? And then, what do you have? I have yet to see a Traxxas that can compete on a race level with either a Losi or Associated.

no electric experience here soooo,
but if you want nitro RC10GT is the most durable hands down.
Sabotuer is selling one cheap with a brand new engine if you are interested

Can someone tell me the difference in the RTR kits and the nicer kits.
For instance, the RTR or T4 TE
And the XXX-T RTR or the XXX-t MF

The upgrade kits are just that, upgraded. More graphite parts, better shocks, more adjustable..... but they do not come with radios and electronics. You build them from kits, so you know your truck inside and out. Bodies are not painted, so you can personalize them.
I know the XXXT MF2 has threaded shock bodies, which make them more easily adjustable. The chassis and suspension componets are all graphite. You can adjust roll center, caster & camber, wheelbase length, and so more in detail than the RTR kits. If you are going to get serious bout racing, and have the budjet, start with either a XXXT MF2 or Associated T4 FT edition.

i think if you have a chance to try both trucks on the track for a few mins each, would be your best option. its all preference, and from the fact you "upgrading" from the rusty, i think that losi would be perfect. the learning curve would start from scratch with the t4. i'v owned both, and can tell you that i don't like dealing with ae shocks, or replacing front arms. funny, i cant say what i don't like about my losi...

One of the best things for durability is practice. If you start slow and learn the track, not hitting the sidewalls will go a long way.
As far as different kits go, the difference tends to be in materials, where there tends to be a trade-off.
Most RTRs are made of more flexible composits (more nylon, usually) so they will flex a bit. Most serious kits view flex as somewhat annoying 'cause its difficult to adjust precisely (X-Ray is using chassis flex on their new tourer, thats interesting) so stiff is usually good in a Team Kit or a Losi "(Insert Racer's Name Here)" edition. These race-oriented kits use stiff graphite to keep things set but the graphite will break rather than bend, so its somewhat less durable. If you're good a track shouldn't put anywhere near as much stress on a car as bashing does so the stiffness should work.
As far as the Ultimate Rustler goes, I am quite fond of the project. My first truck was a Rustler Kit with the MSC. The Ultimate Rustler is actually cutting the fat mostly. One doesn't have to do everything Jang does to keep things fast. Remember that driving skill is really the biggest factor in winning races. You could have the absolute fastest car out there but if you don't know how to handle it and tune it you'll lose.

i dunno.....i raced a SRT in the day, and that truck REALLY did well, but once again, boils down to driver ability,...i have competed at local tracks with my stampede and won. Yes, i am biased, as is Vato Loco,( the last of the traxxas men, i think ;) )..but, whichever you choose, remember, NOTHING, no truck, no amount of parts, and no amount of money can put you in th ewinners circle if ya cant drive!!

I have had both the FT T4 and the MF2. I didn't break many parts with either, but if I were to recommend one to someone who was going to crash them a lot I'd probably say get the MF2. Keep the diff and slipper adjusted correctly and install titanium ballstuds in the rear shocktower and it's a pretty bulletproof truck.
