hi, i was having a really strange problem with my brand new duratrax intelli speed 16T Mild-Modified Reversible speed control. it works fine when the battery is charged, but when the battery starts to go dead, everythings goes weird. when ever you hit full throttle, the steering servo turns all the way to one direction and then the motor goes all weird. i was also having a frequency problem, it works fine when the car is close up, but then sometimes when you go further the motor starts glitching but the steering servo is fine. i know this is what capcitors are for, but i already have capacitors on the motor and i still have this problem.any solutions

The glitching is from interference probably. How close are the ESC and the Rx? And then how long are your wires to the motor, to the battery, etc? Also, do you run by any power lines or transformers, etc? What frequency do you run on, and is it AM or FM? Lots of factors can affect the glitching thing.

As for the weird issue when the battery goes dead, it probably just doesn't have enough juice to supply the BEC, so the Rx probably sends sporatic signals on and off to the servo and ESC (causing the motor to do its thing). I wouldn't worry too much about this problem when the battery is basically dead. If it operates fine with a full charge and doesn't do this until it dumps, then it shouldn't be anything major.

im running a team losi xxx-t, so the speed control isnt close to the receiver. the wires arent that long, i also have a deans connector between the motor and the speed control. my radio is an AM and the frequency is 26.995

Well, you have to keep in mind that AM radios are the most susceptible to interference of all the radios we use, & when or where it can happen just depends on where you are & if there's any possible source of interference nearby(like powerlines, something odd about the materials or layout of your area, strong CB radios being used somewhere near, etc.). As for the car losing steering control when the battery's almost dumped, that does happen to a number of ESC's as Electric Thunder said, , but there are some ESC's that prevent that from happening, like most of Novak's(they have what they call Radio Priority Circuitry, it will divert any energy needed to the receiver & servo at all times, so even when there's not enough left for the motor to turn, the servo will still be under control), & they work beautifully....

ok, thanks for the help! ;)

AM 27mhz is a weaker frequency than 75mhz I think (Charlie S from Novak was talking about this not too long ago in relation to the GTB over in the BL motor forum I believe), and the fact that it is AM also means you're probably going to experience more interference than if you were to switch to FM. If you can, try switching over to 75mhz, and see if it helps. If not, then it just might be worth it to shell out the dough for an FM system. You can also try coating the Rx in tinfoil to see if that helps, but if you do, be careful that you don't short anything out....that'd suck!:)
