My slow friend wants to throw plane wings on a boat. What does he need to do to make it fly/ float?

I would probably approach this as a floating plane and not a flying boat !
For one you would need something to propel it once the water propeller was in the air. Like say, an airplane propeller.
Actually, I would not even try. It is so close to imposible, that it would not be worht the effort ... of course my opinion only !

Save yourself the trouble and money, just buy a float plane.

Just buy a float plane. Even if you did complete the conversion I can gaurentee you it will not fly well.

i'm sure it could be done, but once the boat takes off, there is nothing to propel it through the air, and another thing is, the boat could have most of the weight in either the back or the front, assuming its in the back, when you take off, the air could get under the boat and with the weight in the back, you will do a back flip and end up upside down. another thing you have to consider is how your going to go from steering the prop to steering the plane wings ailerons when you take off.

First have a look on the links above ... The last comments add nothing compared to the amount of data they bring ...
