I bought a Team Losi xxx-t RTR 2 a week ago. I have driven it maybe 5 times since ive had it. Today I was running it, and after around 5 minutes it wouldnt move, but i could still steer. I understand the speed controller that comes with that will turn off my motor if it gets to hot. the box says its a trinity 19 turn motor.

I was wondering why it may be overheating? the temp outside is in the upper 80s. I am very new to the hobby, and really dont know what im doing. Any help would be appreciated.

It actually might not be that you are over heating your motor/esc but that the brushes in the motor are hung up or have become to short to touch the comm. Take the motor out and see if you can freely move the brushes. If you can move them freely but they appear short replace them with new brushes.

Trinity has several styles of 19turn motors which one is it. What is the spur, pinion size you are using and also what color springs are being used.
Check to be sure battery pack is fully charge, there is not problem with connectors etc that could be causing a break in current.
Like Erik said it could be a problem with brushes, with some 19turn motor 3 runs can be maximum number of runs you get on a set of brushes if gearing was off, springs too light (which allows the brushes to bounce excessively there by wearing out sooner). Compare the length of brushes in motor with a new pair - if the used pair is roughtly 1/4 their original they may need to be replaced. Depending on type of 19turn motor it is start with Red/Green springs for the Spec (fixed endbell motors) for the adjustable endbell use two red springs. Sometimes these motors work best geared in the range of hi rpm stock motors - maybe 2 teeth below and 3 teeth above depending on what it's used for. For bashing use probably the low side would be better as motor is being ran alot longer.

I tried to find out what type of motor it was, but all i could find is that its made by trinity, maybe its a motor that is made just for that rtr? i took out the brushes and looked at them, i dont know how long they are supposed to be. After i put it back together the truck ran its full battery length. The shock springs i have are orange.

I have decided to get a new motor, so i know what im dealing with hehe. Thanks for the info.
