View Full Version : XX-4 wheels
I just got a XX-4 from Tig here on the forums(great guy, superfast shipping) and I want to get new tires and wheels. What wheels will work with it? I've done a bit of searching, but I know nothing about buggies and I haven't really been able to find anything. Any help would be appreciated.
I would also like to get a new motor, but I really don't want to be bothered with having to mess with brushes and cleaning all the time. I want a motor that will give good power for the money but doesn't require much, if any, maintenence. And no, I can't afford brushless.

The wheels from the Losi XXX-4 also work with the XX-4.

2nd question. The answer is sorry, but if you can't afford a brushless system, then you will need to do some maintenance. (also consider that the cost of a highend brushed motor, lathe, extra brushes, etc adds up. You may want to reconsider a brushless sytem and save up a little more)
For the lowest maintance, you probably want to use a stock, 27-turn motor. Because they have a lower RPM, the brushes and comm usually wear less quickly than they do on high end modified motors. A stock motor from trinity or epic is a good deal. They are cheap, but provide plenty of power for bashing or racing in a stock class.
The good news is that motor maintenance isn't all that hard, in fact its very easy. If you can't afford a comm lathe, most local hobby shops will do this service for you (for a small fee of course.) New brushes are also easy to install.... In fact there is a great article on this website that shows you how to do all this http://www.rccaraction.com/rc/articles/dialin_stock.asp
It may look indimidating, but its really not that hard :)
Thanks for the info. I know the maintenance is easy, I just dont have the time or energy to do it. I have very little time to run my rc's and I want to spend as little time on that sort of thing as possible.
