If you go with the Rustler, you will most likely want to get a faster motor in it eventually. I put a Trinity 17 Turn Double Monsters of Touring motor in my Protrax Rustler (a Traxxas Rustler hopped up by Horizon Hobby) and it goes about 20% faster than stock. I also put ball bearings in the wheels and that helps also.

i love my rustler, but you know what, with all the crap I have done to it, It willnever REALLY be able to race with the big boys. If you plan on racing, get a T3, or XXX-T, it is more money, but it is cheaper than hopping up your rustler and it will still be more competitive. I know from experience. If you still want a Traxxas vehicle, get the 4-tec, it is a newer car and has newer technology, I think the Rustler is like 6 years old. the 4-tec would be more competitive with racing with the proper equip and set up.

If i were you i would get a rustler becouse its a all around truck it has exilent off road capabilaties and its not bad on road. I was cought in the same situation i had the 4 tec for a day and didnt like it becouse i was strictly a on road car. So i returned it and got a rustler and I love it. My rustler is stock and on road i get about 25-30 min run time on road and about 20-25 off road. I recomend the rustler but thats just my opinion. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/tongue.gif

I hear all these people in here saying stuff about their's but you need to think about what you are going to do with yours? If all you want to do is race onroad get the 4Tec. If you want to race offroand get the rustler. My point is that if you get the 4Tec you will be limited to pavement with an offroad you can still race onroad if you want to.

I say that if you just want something to have fun with go with the stampede all the way! It will go as fast as the rustler and it has great ground clearence for haveing even more fun in the rough stuff. It is also a great jump truck and a great backyard bomber.

To be honest with you! I have "2" electric Rustlers, a Nitro Rustler, a Electric 4TEC, and a Factory Team B3. And as far as the most enjoyable play thing of them all is the electric Rustler. One of the replies that was listed here states that the 4TEC is for street use only, that is for sure! It doesn't even like large gravel. As far as the Rustler goes, I've got stock front tires with Road Hawgs on the rear. I just purchased my second Rustler about two months ago and it came with the slipper clutch with full ball bearings. The cost was $109.00. The 4TEC is highly advanced in design but not a lot of fun to use everywhere. Buy the Rustler!
