View Full Version : Steer that Stampede!!!!

I have a Stampede that is hard on steering servos. I wasted the stock servo like a month after I got the truck. I put a Hobbico servo in it and it was great for a while. Now every time I hit a jump or a bump the tires turn to one side or the other and won't go back. I thought it was the Traxxas servo saver at first, but I put a Kimbough servo saver on and it still slips to one side or the other. The servo is their metal gear, hi-torque model. I heard they are cheap servos. Did I have bad luck with the servo or should I get something else. Please respond. I would like to hear your advise.
Thanks Stamp :p

Did you change out the spline spacer in the Servo Saver or are you using the same one that was on the Traxxas servo??? Cuz there is a little spacer that changes the size of the spline to fit different servos, and maybe the one on it doesn't fit the Hobbico exactly right.
That would be my first thought.

if its not that it could just be the servo. i have all my R/C hopped up ith Hi-tec Meatl Geared servo's. they are REALLY reliable and have a 2-year warranty. so if u pick up one of those, and you still have your problem then you know its not your servo.

LOL, what an interesting flub up. I work with servers quite a bit. I must have them on the brain !
An all metal gear server would be dang cool though, don't you agree ?
:p  ;) :D

when you hit something does the steering just freeze up?? That happened in my T3 and the reason was the servo connector was coming out of the receiver the tiniest amount. If thats the problem you just need a new connector.

The connector is still in the reciever and the splineis the correct one. The servo seems to slip. Is it that the gears stripped, and if so I thought metal gears are supposed to be the strongest and the longest lasting.
