I just set up 3 batteries & 1 esc with the dean. They were fine when I soldered the connections but just came back from running the car and all 3 battery connections are either not tight enough or just slide off when the car spins out.

Help.

if all 3 batteries are doing it then it's not the ones on the batteries its on the esc. just replace the one on the esc. Deans plugs are great plugs though and work great. I've never had a problem with them being to loose but I have had a problem with one being to tight but replaced it and have had no problems sense. oh and I didn't solder it either my dad did. He bought me some batteries for christmass and solder deans plugs on it and well I guess he just isn't the greatest solderer.

Be careful when soldering the Dean's plugs, or you can melt the plastic part of the plug, and either make the plug very hard to slide together, ot make it loose. Don't touch the iron on the connectors too long.

sounds like you got the male plug too hot when you were soldering. just replace the male plug. its even possible that you got the female side too hot. if you soldered the female side with the male connected it would melt the plastic.
check the plugs

I agree with what he said.

should I use a heat sink when soldering these small connections?

I just tried another set which were fine out of the package.....now are not as tight.

are you using a soldering gun ? or a soldering iron? how many watts ?
tin the wire first. tin the deans connector. then solder together.

soldering iron - 30W

Just connect another connector to the one you're soldering, that way if you overheat the plastic, it will still be lined up correctly. Just don't connect a battery to the male if your fixing that, because it is easy to short across the solder tabs of the male connector if you touch both with the tip of the iron. Hope that reads clear enough.

i usually recommend at least 40watts and a chisel tip. can you take a couple of pics of your connector. use the macro feature in a digital camera to take a close up pic.
