not bad for the 1st time...looks like you need to vary the shapes of the flames a bit.

tripple, don't be so hard on yourself! I think it looks cool! It may not be 'true fire', but it's good! Let's call this one 'tripple fire'! :)

not sure on what your goal was but a couple things i could suggest, i think you got your highlights all worked out you have the skills to do it, i think your process is a little off, not to mention you did it over a light color which makes the process much much more difficult, but i think your idea came out allright, a couple things if i may. i think you need to get a little bit more flow established build up more at the front and less at the back, and if your trying it over a light color let your candys be your glow and your opaques be your mass, basically what makes it solid, id like to see the top and see what you came up with there....
a good tip for working over lighter colors is to map out wear your flames will go with a sharpie then blend candy to those points that you just made then bring the opaques underneith at the same point then redo for the next layer of orange.. a good tip is to make a couple sections trailing off for the light colors to make it more convincing but it takes alot more planning ahead of time with the light colors.. at least for rc bodys it does! lol
also try useing the outer tip of the sheild it looks like a bunch of regualr flame shapes, pamela shanteau did that on a halrey and it turned out pretty cool! but more fire is doen with the outer tip of a "blob"
