Well, I believe HPI tried selling a 2-speed for their RS4's, but they never caught on, they weren't very reliable(from what I heard) & didn't offer that big an advantage on an electric. Electric TC's are better off with less rotating mass(which is why you see more of them with plastic diffs nowadays) & they get their speed from the motor itself(some can rev much better than any nitro engine). As far as low-maintainence goes, I think the TC3 goes to the top of my list, it has a VERY efficient drivetrain, & it is designed to be very simple to access its parts, but it rarely needs much(its gearboxes seal wonderfully, its shaft is close to bulletproof, & its diffs stay smooth for an incredibly long time)..... http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

The hpi rally or sport 2 are a real good buy and what ever grizzbob said about the 2spd isn't true they sell alot, there relavtively cheap , easy to adjust and maintain. My Rally has a 2spd and a 14 turn Quad . It basicly lights up the tires all the way down the street and does about 45mph . It's already beaten a rs4 nitro. All I caution is that you save up for tires the 2spd likes to eat alot of sets .
