well my dad came up with the idea that we could take off some winds in one of my stock motors and make it a mod. i know that it will run a little hotter but is this all around possible? B3Tyler told me that it also wont go as fast as the actual turn motor. its a 27 turn and i was thinking of lowering it to a 17 or 16 turn. is this possible? will the otor run way to hot and burn out? thanks in advance for all replies.

can it be done... YES...
should you ever do this for racing??? NO...
to re-wind your stock arm you will have to remove all the wire from it first, then start the winding process all over..
chances are, you will mess up the insulation on the wire, or mess up the tab that holds the wire near the comm.... so it's not nearly as easy as you think it would be...
if you mess up the insulation on the wire, or if you break the wire when removing it, you will need to toss the it and start with new wire....
if you mess up the tabs that hold the wire, you will need to solder the wire on where it connect near the comm, and that is not easy to get it to stay...
peace out.... :)

cant you just un wind it about 10 turns? why do u have to completely unwind the whole thing and restart? BTW howard... this is RCpro397 from the ol' rcads.com boards.

yes... you will have to unwind the entire thing... you'll see why when you start unwinding it.... :)
wazzuppp bro... i thought that was you... hope all is good with ya.. things have been going great for me...
oh... and yes... you can wind it to any wind your heart desires (6 turn, 8 turn, 12 turn, whatever :) )... but... if you are re-using the wire that came off the motor, you will probably want to fold it in half to make the motor you are winding into a double instead of a single... (reason why?? because if you wind a hotter motor, you will need either a single thicker wire, or double up on the stock wire... a hotter motor pulls more current, and needs wiring that can handle it)...
if i remember right, if you double up on the wire off your stock motor (and you will need to do that), it will only be long enough to turn about a 12 double.... but i haven't done it forever.... but i'm almost sure the wire will not be long enough to do anything over a 15 double...
btw... pay CLOSE attention to how the winding is done... it is very easy to re-wire it wrong... so as you unwind the stock wire, make notes as to how it was wrapped around....
peace out.... :)

hey Pro.... my last comment was for Jeep... he seems to think he originated this idea... LOL... either that or he seems to enjoy pointing out duplicate posts, in that case he needs to point out about 99% of the posts on every board....
btw pro.... you are from iowa right?? what track have you been driving at off-road??
peace out... :)
