i have an 11t double monster of touring motor for my t3. i am using a 1700 racers edge battery. with a 12t pinion gear with a 48 spur gear. i heard from one of the local hobby shops that i need an 16t-18t pinion gear. and i heard from my moms boyfriend that is really big into cars that it could be my battery. he said that it might be giving off more volts then amps and my motor is getting way to hot. i was just at a race today and the metal plate is on the top of the motor bent out of shape and i was wondering if my motor got to hot and i would like to know how i can prevent it from happening again. i think my next motor that i am going to get is a P2K stock motor, would the 1700 battery work, and what pinion and spur gear i should use to get the best out of it. :(

what ESC do u have on your T3 that holds the 11turn? just curious.

is it the metal plate where you solder the esc to the motor that is bending on your motor?

if so, i just want to warn you that the same motor tabs on the P2K are really gentile and prone to bending easily too :)

Chizzler,
yes, the plate where the bushings go, ohh and my bushings are fried, one of them is like cut in half. ohh and where the bushings go you know how they are supposed to be parrell to eachother well there not at all.its really bad.

:(

well i'm not sure where you cna get the bushings replaced in your motor, but now that they broke, try to find some bearings. i'm sure those'll be alot more efficient for ya.

Could be something as simple as your gearing, or even something binding in the drive line, putting extra load on the motor.
Did you check to see if the motor screws arent too long and are fouling up the motor??

no but my plate is like 1/4 inch off the motor and i might not even bother with it, when i went to race the other day i had to solder it on 3 times and it still fell off, and before that when i was just going around in my drive way it would fall off. i was gettin pretty ****** so when it finally couldnt move i said screw it. lol :p

Hey racin... if your wires keep fallen off your motor tabs... then you need to add flux to you solder... i usually use deans silver solder cause it has flux in it... also, if you are using a modified motor like a 11t you're better off using batteries with 2000mah-2400mah nicd or 3000mah nimh cells... you'll get a slightly better run time than the 1700mah...

Racin4ever,

It sounds like your gearing is off. Your 11t should be geared with an 18 or 17 tooth pinion gear using the stock 87 tooth spur gear.

For the P2K, start with a 20, then tune up or down from there.

drivehard,
is flux like a jelly type substance, if it is i used it before at my house and at a friends.

racer,
yeah thats what i heard when i was at the races on sunday. On my 20t motor i have a 16tooth pinion and a 42 spur, is that good?? or should i go with a 87 spur gear??

ya thats flux. it really helps to clean the tabs your sautering and prevents 'cold sautering' when the tab or wire has so much old sauter that it cant get hot anymore.
