hi all.

I retrofitted a three speed trans from a kyosho madforce into a 1/8 mp 7.5 landmax 2.

Problem: The transmission mounts are the wrong way round, meaning the centre transmission bearings slide out of the mounts, sliding the trans forward, causing the rear dogbone to jump out & toast the gears. Consequently i need to turn the transmission mounts around- to stop this happening. However, when i do this, it means i cant fit the brake cam, meaning no brakes.

So, i think, i need to fabricate some form of pneumatic/ hydraulic brake system. I think hydraulics would be more reliable. Any ideas?

In the pic below you can see the twin disk setup. Ideally i would like to leave the disks where they are. I just need a way of applying sufficient friction to the disks to stop the car.

I think, i need a way of applying the 'pushing' force of a hydraulic cylinder to 'compress' the brake pads.

any help / input very much appreciated

many thanks

Look at the 1/5 scale cars: they have either wire-actuated brakes, or hydraulic brakes with master cylinders. I don't know how big those cylinders are, but if they were small enough I imagine you'd be able to rig something up.
They way I would go myself is just a wire-actuated system. Nice and easy, no fluids, no leaks, no large systems. That ought to work just fine, but I have never thought of it before so someone correct me if I am mistaken!

here is the front disk brake system on my 1/5t scale bike. Seems like it would be an easier and deffinatly cheap rout to go.

I payed like 25$ shiped for the brake and that included the rotor, caliper, pads, and cable.
