hey
im currently running a dolphin outboard 2 with a 600bb Graupner engine, running off 7 cell 8.4v.
Im wondering how many cells i can run? also is there a bigger engine tat i cud use an how many cells i cud run off it.
i've got it set up on a offshore flat botton mono hull.
any help wud be appreciated

12 cells will move it eazy !
and if its a stcok motor , i would try 18 !

Running 12 to 18 cells on the stock 600 motor will burn it up quickly, and I doubt the ESC would handle it anyway - do not try it! With the stock setup I'd not use more than 8 to 9 cells, and prop down if you try this. The tips in the above link will help you get going faster safely.

cheers for tat is there a 600/700 size engine tat you wud recomend and a esc tat wud handle 12-18 cells?

I would ask at Offshore electrics for the best 700 motor; they can match your budget with the right motor. Note that the shaft on the 700 is larger. The best ESC would be from RC-Hydros.com, although offshore has some others too.

thanks for that im looking at getting the Graupner 700BB Turbo 8.4 Volt and the Victory 6-14 cell 90 Amp Watercooled ESC.
just wondering what are some decent batteries out there, wud be looking at 7.2v or 8.4v ones?

just wondering what are some decent batteries out there, wud be looking at 7.2v or 8.4v ones? The 700/8.4 will run well on 12 cells - if you just want to run 7 cells, stick with a 600-size motor.
You get what you pay for with cells. Top performance means spending more $$$, but for most sport running you can get by just fine on less-fancy cells. Remember that all the power in any boat is in the cells; lowest price cells equals lowest performance.
Battlepack cells are good, I've set SAW records with them. :cool:
