Hey - where does everybody get the best deals on servo's? How and Why?
Im talking the major brands - like HiTec, Futaba, Aitronics, KO Propo ...
Tell me how you got the best bargains, special pricing tips and tricks etc ...
I need to outfit a few vehicles, and ebay is getting tiresome ....

I looked outside the box so to speak. I had a towerhobbies catalog and was just looking down the list of Hitec and saw a servo with 190oz-in of power scanned over at the price just $36 YEAH looked back and it has metel gears TOO! Then yep the catch its 1/4scale servo. Not to let it pass I got out my scale and measured the radio tray and sure enough if I trimmed it some that servo would fit. Four years later that servo hasnt skipped a beat. Beings it built for WAY bigger vehicle its like on vacation turning my maxx tires. Thats how I got lots of power for a good price.
Hitec 190oz mg $36.

I dont race so the speed didnt matter much just the power at the low price.
I just checked and the 5995 is at .15 so not a big difference in speed.

For 1/8th scale vehicles i really like the airtronics 94358 or 94359 they are essetially the same, but the 358 has a plastic sacrifice gear, and the 359 has all metal, and a heatsink. They both have 200 oz-in of torque and a .10 speed.

That is faster than anything else...atleast I think. And it is stronger that the hitec 5996. metal gears and everyting. this is what I am currently using for my buggy steering.

I use mostly Futaba gear and normally base choices on what the recommended use is for. Lighter vehicles like 1/12 and 1/10th pans normally 48 ounces is fine while 64-90+ is needed for heavier vehicles. Additional features like dual ball bearings, coreless motor, metal gears, digital vs analog aids the smoothness and operation - but also increases the price. Some digital servos require a digital receiver which will also add to the cost if you needed to upgraded.
