Tamiya TA04-3 Chassis

Just got a TA04-3 chassis (C5-R ) kit on ebay for my sons 7th b-day comming up that comes with the stocker "silver can" motor . My Q is what would be a great upgrade motor that is not to fast ? after my boy gets used to the stocker first (noob steps) would any 27t do? ( like the trinity monster hp sereies or a pk2 pro) then after that i will go to a 19t then it's game on .... 12t / brushless :eek:

I am not familliar with any of the tamiya on-road chassis there seems to be a ton :confused: I grew up with the old school Fox, hornet , grasshoper.
