What happend to RC Thunderdome

What ever happend to the RC Thunderdome? I remember back in the 80's the yearly report on the RC Thunderdome race. It was great. Especially the Insane Speed run cars, and the crashes! Is this even still taking place? Or, has RCCA just stopped covering it?

It kind of fell off the map. When oval racing and R/C activity dipped many years ago, races like the Thunderdrome went away. It's unfortunate that it hasn't returned with the rapid increase in R/C activity over the past five years. That was one of my favorite races to cover. It was especially fun watching guys like cliff Lett, Kent Clausen and Sean Ireland duke it out in the Insane Speed run. It's pretty awsome to see a car run that fast on a oval track.

If you miss those high speed runs goto race rock in florida,they have 3 or 4 of the record breaking cars on display there.I was surprised to see them when I went there but they have them with signs displaying the speeds they reached.It was pretty cool to see!!
