I just purchased a new Xray t2 and I am going to be doing some carpet racing. The track I race at uses rubber tires for there stock 27 turn class. Who makes a good tire to use. I know compunds will very, but I dont know who makes a good tire to start with. '

Well, TakeOff's CS-22's & CS-27's work well on it(how well exactly depends on how much grip your carpet track has now, if it is fairly new & hasn't built up much grip yet, then I'd lean toward 22's, & if grip is high, then I'd go with 27's, plus you can also mix a bit, like 27's up front & 22's rear, if you prefer your car to feel more planted in the rear). Only thing I'd advise with them for carpet is to either use some strapping tape inside the tire(between the tire & the inserts they come with), or use a slightly thicker insert, like HPI's red ones to fill the airgap you get with the stock inserts. With the stock ones, the tire will tend to collapse just a bit under hard cornering, so to keep wear down it's best to use a different insert or fill that airgap, it'll lend more support to the tire....

I know some tracks might allow the stock rubber tires, most find foams works better. The best place to ask is where you are going to be racing. Most of the regular racers should have a better answer on what compound or tire manufacturer work best. They will also be better able to tell what traction compound works best, how it should be applied and other questions you might have.
If the carpet is ozite, it does have a tendancy to change the handling and the locals could tell you if this happens and what they do in terms of tire compounds or chassis changes, even appling traction compound differently might help.

Thanks for the info, The main track in my area is S@N's Trackside in Milwaukee, Wis and from what I hear they use a handout tire for the races. I am assuming it is the Takeoff brand of tire. I would prefere to race foam tires, but they like to go with rubber on the carpet.

It is, Cody, I've raced at Trackside several times & I know Scotty & Nancy(still the best place to race I've ever been to, almost feels like a second home to me, aside from it being 800 miles away, lol), & yes they lean toward premounted CS-27's, that's the handout tire they use(in fact I still have a couple of sets left over from previous Novak USTC races I've run in). Given his carpet, the 27's will work fine(though I'll admit I'm not sure how well the Jack the Gripper tire sauce they limit everyone to works on those, they mandated that stuff after the last time I was able to make the trip up, I think it works ok, though, haven't heard anything bad about it). That really makes it pretty simple, just pick up a set of premounted CS-27's & some Jack the Gripper & spend most of your time focusing on car setup, once you get used to it you'll be fine....

That sucks, I am only 30 minutes away from the track. I picked up a can of Jack The Gripper and a set of c-27's. Now I just have to get the gearing close. I looked at some prior XRAY T-2 set up sheets online to get me in the ball park on the suspension set up for Trackside. The only problem was they were using 19 turn motors and I am racing the stock class with a Team Brood version of the co-27.
