Here’s Travis’ personal Eight, straight from his RC Pro Series East TQ run. The hard-anodized aluminum shock towers are now in place, complete with weight-savings machining. The shocks use 4mm shafts (other buggies use 3.5mm) and 15mm shock bodies to help absorb the extra shaft volume and provide super-smooth damping. The aluminum front uprights caught our eye, byt Travis explained that they’re just stand-ins until the molded parts arrive (we wouldn’t be surprised if they turned up as option, however). And how does Travis like the ride? “It’s probably got the most acceleration and steering of any car. It feels like an electric 4WD car to me, the way acellerates. It’s also the easiest 1/8 scale car to work on, you can pull off the front or rear end with six screws.” Now all we need is a test car…

clunker tank... its designed so that the "clunk" pickup will move to wherever the fuel is. In other wrods, you won't flame out while on your lid..

Which means less running for the pit guy (in my case, my dad..haha) during practice days. Genius.
Just to clear something up before someone else sees it; the aluminum uprights Peter said that will be molded for production are the front caster blocks. Most of the time I've heard "uprights" being used to refer to the shock towers, and the shock towers on the 8IGHT will be machined aluminum.
If you guys have any questions, let me know. And if you get a chance to go to RCX tomorrow, make sure you stop by the Losi booth and say hi!

Wow a very nice buggy, I have always been a fan of losi kits. What engine is pictured with the 8IGHT in the pictures above?
Also is there a realese date, and a price yet?

I think it is kind of funny that they are showing the buggy with the competitions pipe on it(Jammin). The buggy looks pretty nice though.

bunsincunsin - I'm not sure which engine that is, to tell you the truth. I know it is an OS Rocket head, but I don't recognize the case *shrug*.
The MAP Horizon has set for the kit is $599. I think they're aiming for late summer as far as a release date...which I would interpret as August or so, but don't hold me to that.
Freedom - For a race-level buggy, it's really not that much money, especially for what you'll get in the box; a car that won't require anything extra to be race-spec.
GramdeGixxer - I haven't seen a Losi pipe yet, so I'm not sure what all will be included with the kit (if a pipe will even come with the kit). The Jammin' pipes work very well on a variety of engines, so it's not a bad choice.

I really hope it comes in at that price. I know I'm jumping the gun and should wait for the reviews. This buggy is sitting at the top of my wishlist.

Pretty sure the engine pictured on Travis' car is a Sirio .21.

Welcome to 8th scale racing! This car is priced with the rest of the top racing buggies. I think you will be able to find it for under $600 but that is what these things cost! :(

Amain Hobbies and CarolinasRC both have it at $579 with a release date of 7/31. They're both doing preorders too.

Aaron,
Any idea what it weighs? Just looking at the chassis and shocks and I'm thinking that they're the reason Losi went with the plastic radio tray and front brace instead of aluminum or carbon; keeps weight and cost low.

Racing t - 1/8th scale off-road at a big level is not for the faint of wallet..to be fair, the Losi car is most certainly in the ballpark of the cars in its class and should be a good value in comparison to its competition.
