Man I feel like the pain in the ____ newbie.... but everyone here is so helpful. I fixed my runtime issuse thanks Railman. i can get 11minutes on a 1500, 17tx2 motor with a msc, and good speed...
now I need a backyard motor somthing quicker than a 540, but that lasts a bit longer. I have heard everyone getting 20 minutes in there rustler with the 20 t stinger. should I get one of those just for play?? any ideas??

A Stinger for backyard bashing is fine, but be warned, the performance is less than stellar.

Wouldn't a Trinity Chamaleon work well? I've heard that most stock motors (like P2K and Green machine) are faster than the stinger...

Everything is faster than a Stinger. If he wanted another mild mod, a Chameleon would be a great choice. A good, durable (albeit a little slower) choice would be the venerable P2K. The Chameleon and the P2K are also rebuildable.

P2K run time would be lower than Stinger since it'll be drawing more current. Don't know about the Speed Secret motor, but hey it's only $10 so give it a try. You may be happy with the performance and also saved some money.

Then the P2K is better because it is more efficient, and faster, and rebuildable. It should give comparable runtime too.

The P2K is better because it is a proven, solid performer. I would get it even for backyard bashing, but that's just me. Twenty minutes from a 1500 mah battery is possible (?) with conservative gearing and an easy throttle. That's something you'll have to try out. I personally would only run half that time to let the motor and battery cool.

If you want to spend less money and get the Stinger or the Speed Secret, go for it. You may find that those might be perfect for what you want to do. Good luck. :)

thanks again, What do you think that the runtime on the p2k vs the 20t stinger. I know that the stinger is not going to be as fast but all I am doing is backyard bashing with my buggy and my wifes stock rustler. Somone told me to get a towerhobbies 27t speed secret motor (it's $10). I have the msc and 1500 batt. and I want a mildly fast long running motor...... Long run time is the key....

Stock motors are designed to make power at the expense of efficiency so if you are bashing you should look into a machine wound modified type motor. Botyh Peak and Orin sell a 23 turn and I am sure Trinity and others have comparable versions. These will give you about the same run time as a stock motor but with more run time and a longer lifesapn.

If runtime is a big thing then look into dumping off that MSC for an ESC. That will utilize your pack to its max. I have a p2k and I don't get anywhere near 11 minutes out of a 1500 pack in my TC3 so I'm not sure what you are doing to get those times but its working for you. The ESC and some better batts are what I would look for before getting another motor. If you want to give that TH motor a shot go for it and post how she runs, someone asked me about it the other day and I had to honestly tell them I had never seen one go. If you want max runtimes though, the milder the motor the longer, and an ESC will help out a lot in place of the inefficient heat building MSC.

Eleven, twenty minutes? I don't get more than 5 min in my Losi buggy, w/ Trinity Midnight, Novak Duster, and 1500 mAh packs. I thought this was normal. Should I be getting more?
