There are usally to big problems with stick packs. 1, they aren't matched! So you'll get a bunch of different cells with different ratings. and 2, you can't discharge! So you lose pack life and don't get better results as you go on. These "homemade" packs aren't really homemade as you think. They are easy to assemble, you are going to have to solder so you might as well solder it, they cells are matched, you can discharge, and it just looks better.

My D4 is is a 12 turn, yah they just look funky, you solder them on and off, what a big hassle, one day you could burn yourself,it just looks like too much of a hassle.

SuperFastB3 believe me GO WITH THE STICK PACKS. ETHANB YOU ARE WRONG BECAUSE TRINITY MAKES STICK PACKS THAT ARE MATCHED. ETHANB BE SURE OF SOMETHING BEFORE YOU SAY IT AND GIVE WRONG ADVICE. Stick packs are easier to deal with. Just make sure you have a very efficient plug like the one by Acer. Check out there website at www.acerracing.com. (http://www.acerracing.com.) If you change the connector on your battery you also have to change it on your charger. You might even want to use those connectors for your motor instead of bullet connectors. SUPERFASTB3 if you plan to just play around or race locally you should go with the stick packs

Oh yeah and you can discharge stick packs. EthanB what are you talking about. We are talking about R/C car batteries.

Your speed depends on a lot of things SuperfastB3. Like your gearing, amount of cells, connectors, etc. If you wanna go faster get a 7 cell battery. With a 12 turn in a lite weight buggy it will be really fast. I would probably say over 30.

If you want it to go REALLY FAST, put in an Aveox 2 turn single brushless motor and 26 cells and it should do about 90-110mph! (j/k) http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

stick packs are not as near as good as unassambled packs. Less quality connections, you dont know EXACTLY what you are getting, less wires and they look good. I went through stick packs, they dont last as long.

I think some one up there means you can't discharge the individual cells, but I'm a gas racer so please take the "I think" into consideration.

Guys do you really think nicks stampede can go 35 with a 17 turn motor??? I have a xxt"cr" with 7cells and 13turn motor and it is way slower than my Maximum ST that does 33mph+. Also I think stick packs are good. Just get a good one. I like the Duratrax packs because they are quad welled and have shotgun tubes.

I have a Max ST , xxt " cr ", RC10 , MT10M and I love them all !!! CHECK OUT MY WEB SITE FOR MORE .

Whoa guys hold up with the flaming no need for that. As for stick packs well i have an old 1500 and it still works in my MT with a 16 turn motor. Anyway if you charge them and use them consistently they will do fine nicds like consistancy. Also running them more than once a day is not reccommended buy more packs. Even though i run mine like 4 times a day.
