Are you going to race? If not, any of the popular RTRs will be fine...Cen Matrix (FM radio), Ofna Hyper 7 series and Jammin RTR among others. If racing...are you spending that 5-600 on the buggy alone knowing you'll need and engine and electronics? Or will you need the engine etc as well? The top line buggies like K SP2, M Prospec, and XB8 are all well above this...just for the rolling chassis. The Jammin , new Hyper 8, Cen Matrix Pro, GS CLK-1, Thunder Tiger EB4 S3...and Im sure there's some I missed...are all likely around 500...again, just for the rolling chassis. Bottom line, the best thing I think, will be to check with your local shop. What do they carry the most parts for? Is there a track nearby where you can get tips/advice from racers?
I'm looking to race and i think im gonna get a Hyper 7 and upgrade the servos.... I already have a XR3I so i wont kneed a new radio. That should be good

Well then, since you're planning on racing, I would recommend the Hyper 8 over the H7. Everything I have read is very positive and several folks at my track including the LHS owner are running very well with it. The 7 is a great and very durable buggy, great to learn with but the 8 is a much better on track performer. Either way, you really can't go wrong. Since you already have a radio, Id recommend a couple engines. The first being the O.S .21 RG. I have never actually used or even seen one to my knowledge, but I have read nothing but positive on it and it is very cheap cost wise...approx $150. The second would be the Nova-Rossi Top .21 BF. I have seen a few of these run and they are also very good engines. And inexpensive, probably around $200. Anyhoo...good luck with whatever you chose :)
My friend said that rg's are really good and i think that was what i was gunna get anyway. I think they are good engines... But ya i think im gonna go with either one of those buggies. THey look nice!

an entire kit set to race for $600 would be very difficult.
RTR kits would be satisfactory for racing, till durability comes into play. i've seen it done though. you can definately race with an RTR kit. only problem is the steering servo. so $600 can get you there.
any way to expand the budget to $1000?
best option:
mp777 sp2 for $600
$170 top .21BF engine
$70 JP2 pipe/header
$160 spektrum dx2 DSM, comes w/ 2 JR servos (only at amain hobbies)
$1000
second option:
$500 factory team jammin (comes with an outstanding parts confirguration, better than the sp2)
$170 top .21BF engine
$70 JP2 pipe/header
$160 spektrum dx2 DSM, comes w/ 2 JR servos (only at amain hobbies)
$900
third option:
$425 hyper 8
$109 OS RG
$70 JP2 pipe/header
$160 spektrum dx2 DSM, comes w/ 2 JR servos (only at amain hobbies)
$764
the top .21 bf has been one of the most reliable angines i've ever run to race with. it's up there with the same depndability as the RB S5 and S7 engines. idles all day, never flames out, power on tap for the bottom, mid and top end, average compression.
Ya i could race with the rtr kit which im gonna do and i think i might just pay a little more so i can get new servos whice should be like 90-100 bucks more but i have that much i actually have about 1100 bucks i just dont want to spend that much

the hyper 8 pro would definately get you in the winners circle.

sure thing. i'm getting another SP2 on monday, i've been doing my homework lately. the price just came down on it a bit too. there's a code this month for amainhobbies.com to get $20 off purchases of $250 or more. that helps too.
If Your Order Totals: You Save! Refer to Coupon#
$100.00 - $149.99 $5.00 DCAP5
$150.00 - $249.99 $10.00 DCAP10
$250 or more $20.00 DCAP20
From the latest april newsletter. the codes expire may 1.
on your engines, just be sure to seal them with "air-seal" around the o-rings for the carb, backplate, and at the base of the top end speed needle. that will assure 0 flame outs during qualifiers and mains.
if investment vs. $ spending were the option, the best possible race combo i can think of would be this:
pro option:
$600 mp777 sp2
$170 Novarossi T21BF 3 port (short technical tracks, like ARC)
$335 Novarossi Plus 21-5 (long open tracks, like KZ)
$80 2nd Kyosho Flywheel/aluminum shoes/1.1 ofna springs/ofna SG nut
$70 JP2 pipe/header
$160 MX3 synthesized
$110 94357 throttle .06 120oz
$110 94358 steering .10 200oz.
$19 King Headz Kyosho MP777 Front Lower Suspension Holder (A)
$19 King Headz Kyosho MP777 Front Upper Suspension Holder (H)
$24 King Headz Kyosho MP777 Rear Toe-In Plate (3 degree)
$60 King Headz Kyosho Inferno MP777 Rear Wheel Hubs (1 pair) - Blue
$70 King Headz Kyosho MP7.5/MP777/Hot Bodies Front Steering Knuckles
$18 King Headz Kyosho MP777 Front Torque Arm
$18 King Headz Kyosho MP777 Rear Torque Arm
$16 K Factory Kyosho MP777 Rear Shock Shafts (3.5x66mm) (4)
$50 K Factory MP7.5/MP777 ST Steel Hardened Hinge Pin Set
$53 Kyosho 3.5mm Rear Shock Set (MP777 SP2) spare rear shocks
$40 Tony's Screws Kyosho Inferno MP777 Screw Kit
$40 2700MAH ballistics battery hump (lasts 2 days and adds desired weight to the rear)
$2144 grand total
with this combo, if you lost, it's definately you at fault. not the kit. kanai at the silver state had his pitman rebuild his kit between every qualifier. FROM SCRATCH! they used an air compressed torque drill to remove the screws and all. since the rules require the same chassis, you can have a spare front end built and ready to swap on their if needed. it was amazing i heard.
