I could be wrong, but it looks an awful lot like the 1/12 scale Tamiya pan car I had as my first kit. If I'm right, it came with a Porsche 962 body shell(was pretty cool looking), & with a 6-cell stick battery pack, it was VERY quick, but it could only be driven easily on a carpet track(believe me I tried mine on EVERYTHING, & only could keep it under control on a carpet track)....

Given the solid aluminium 1 piece pod that looks more like a Delta 1/12th then a Tamiya Road Wizard.

Not a road wizard at all. I doubt it's a Tamiya by the looks of it and I know my Tamiya's. Please take some sand paper to the chassis and all the metal bits and clean it up so we can see what it really is.

No, it's not a Road Wizard, but Tamiya sold other onroad kits that were much more like the picture in this thread. My kit was not a Road Wizard(in fact, weren't all Road Wizards 1/10 scale?) This, if it's the same as what I had, is a 1/12 scale kit(even though it uses 6 cell batteries).
im lookin at the resistor & msc
to me it looks tamiya
my 0.2

A lot of cars used the Tamiya MSC in the early days of RC

I have the Tamiya 1/12th scale 956 kit which should pre-date the 962. It's definately not that kit. The orange/red wheels and 1 piece rear pod design is more like how the Delta cars were built.

Yeah your right the Road Wizard was 1/10th scale...but the 1/12th scale cars were very similar in design so I tend to lump them all in as one...

Well Griz I pulled my Tamiya out of storage and took a look at it after looking at the pics again. It appears the wheels were painted that color so I went looking again and I think your right...it is the Tamiya. But it looks like someone scratch built a replacement chassis for it.

Not surprising, I think the original was fiberglass, so it'd be pretty easy to cut a replacement of you know the shape...

Yeah the original is a black fiberglass piece that has a few more cut outs in it to make it lighter then the one in the pic.
