Has anyone ever tried to use a stock motor to discharge a battery pack? I'm using 3000 niMH 6-cell packs...

It will discharge a pack, but why would you use a motor? I would just buy some light bulbs and wire them together. You can often find 3 packs of the lightbulbs at dollar stores.

(Stock motors can pull anywhere from 3-10 amps)

Right, without a load, a motor really won't drain a battery as quickly as you'd think, plus it'd be VERY hard on the motor itself(brushes'll wear pretty fast, because they tend to do that anyway). It'd definitely be best to use bulbs with a cutoff switch...
