Remove the 2 screws from the top of the endbell and take the endbell off. Make sure to mark the endbell first so you know where your timings is set. If you don't do this, you may regret it...

Digex is right. Make shure to mark the timing. Just to be shure you know...remove the springs & brushes 1st (sorry, had to say it) ;) Make shure to watch out for the washers falling out when you pull apart. They may fall on the floor & be lost. The other thing is to make a note of where the washers were for re-assembly. Also be careful of washers bing stuck in the can, or on the magnets...some are steel. I'm sorry if I'm being over decriptive but it's better to over explain than under. I'ts very easy once you do it once. Good luck. :)

Also, when you re-assemble, the phenolic washer (the brown, plasticy looking one) goes in first, closest to the comm.
