Saw that someone else was starting an rc club and of course it got me thinking. Why couldn't I do that at my school. I am a freshman in high school so i might have to wait a bit but it sounds like it would be fun. Any idea how I would go about starting it? I have no experience in club starting so any advice would be helpful. There is a hobbytown USA within walking distance so we could have easy parts access. This would mainly be to expose the hobby. If i did it i would want to make a track for 1/10 nitro monster trucks. Do u all think i might be able to get hobbytown to donate some stuff since we will most likley be buying most the parts and fuel from them? I would really like to get a few tmaxxes but they would be too expensive so i know that they make generic tmaxxes. Hate to do this to traxxas but to save money it would have to be done. THis way i could still buy traxxas parts. Either that or find a few cheap used tmaxxes. I realize that this would include alot of work 4 me but i love work that included rc offroad nitro. LOL Any ideas on how to bring up the club and the cars to use and other stuff plezz LMK. Thanx

i would definately start using electrics, alot easier to maintain, assuming your school has the money, talk with the principle or vice principle, thats how i would do it

I was thinking of electrics but i have never cared for them near as much as nitro. I could have members help pay for the fuel too. Hopefully we could buy like ten gallons for 2 months and get them at a cheaper (wholesale) price.

you may not be too fond of them but for a club, thats the best way, plug and play, no smell either, and you dont have to buy expensive fuel, but battery packs arent exactly cheap either

That would cost a lot of $$ to get started and for up-keep...
I wouldn't imagine new recruits into the club would exactly be the best drivers! n00bs sometimes like the walls a bit too much if you get what im saying. no offense to the n00bs out there but you do.

Well i was thinking of getting like 4 used tmaxxes and renting them out daily. Have them sign a contract or make a deposit to pay if they crash it. I would gladly fix the truck i would just need the parts. I could tune the cars the day b4 each meet or something. I have a friend who wants to do this as well. We could have them pay a few bucks daily to drive the rental trucks to pay for gas and wear and tear. We could buy the gas by the case off tower and possibly get hobbytown to donate a bit. Then if someone buys their own truck they wouldn't have to pay anything unless they wanted to buy the club's gas. I think it could work. I hate fooling around w/elec. bcuz of the escs and other stuf.

If it where me, i would be totally freaked out about the contract or pay as you drive stuff. you can imagine some noob sticking a car at WOT into a wall and then working out how many months of paper deliveries he would need to do to pay off the damage.
If it where me (which it aint) i would go electric
Eons ago, i used to run a school rc club. I put some posters up and people brought there own rc's.
good fun

Thats what i was thinking would be best was to have people bring their own rcs. I don't think many people have them though. I wanted to expose the hobby a little bit. I was thinking i could di it in a more open area and tune the failsafe so that they activate within 100 ft of user. Can u tune a fail safe to do that? I could also gear down the trucks a bit or install small .12 engines
