oh yeah, the solder is not in the way of the plug...

Do you mean the connector contact isn't going all the way into the housing? If that's the case, then something definitely IS obstructing way for the contact. It can be too much solder, but it can also be a bent contact, or maybe the spring inside the housing. In either case, you may be best off to just get another one & try again. I know it can be a pain soimetimes, but it happens to us all(it's happened to me my share of times)..... :)

That is why I went with Deans plugs. A friend had the duratrax connectors on a car he bought used and it had connection problems as well. I might be that they just weren't installed right, but I never have problems with the Deans.

no, i think i have the silver contact in the right direction. ( i looked at the diagram) and i do not see the contact out to the end of the housing like you said there shold be, railman. I think i will try the knife thing.

railman, the razor blade worked great, it solved my problem. no, i did not cut myself. but i did burn myself a few times. is there any way to get the old connector tabs out of the housings after you have used them and there is no wire attached to them? and on a few of my connectors the wire wont stay in all the way. do u have any suggestions about that? thank-you for your help everyone! :)

Kevin, I'm glad you got it in!
As far as removing them it can be done but it's not easy. Do the knife blade thing & use a small screwdrider or something similar to push on the metal while the knife holds it up. I'm not shure what you mean about the wire not staying in though. Is it in the plastic plug already or are you talking about when you solder it to the silver contact? Let me know how it goes. :)

The silver contact should be out to the end of the plastic when it is inserted all the way. Be shure you are inserting with the plastic rotated the right way. They only go in one way. Sometimes they don't want to go in though. I sometimes use the tip of a hobby knife to VERY CAREFULLY lift the end so as to allow it to go in easier. Do not cut yourself on the knife! Good luck. :)

If they won't stay in, it just means that you didn't snap them all the way in in the first place. Keep pushing them through the plastic until you hear and see the silver piece snap over (and in front of) the stainless steel spring.
