I'm rebuilding my old USA-1 Monster and need to pick some motors. The front needs a reverse rotation powerplant. In all my years in this hobby, I've never heard exactly how to do that. I believe with any mod motor you can just spin the endbell 180 deg to reverse the direction? Is that all that's needed? Any advice to match the timing of the front and rear motors?

Thanks,
Jeremy

Spin the endbell? It only goes on one way. To reverse rotation akll you need to do is switch the wires.

no, you loosen the endbell and rotate it 180 degrees

Trinity used to sell clobbuster motors one was normal the other reverse rotation. The simple method is find what degree of timing each motor is set at then setting the one you to need to a reverse timing. Loosen enbell and move endbell clockwise past the center of magnets (zero degree area) to the correct timing location - only motor will turn in reverse direction, but make good power. Rotating the endbell 180degree or swapping the power wires will work but motor tends to down on power as poles are being energized in reverse the method I decribed should eliminate that with both motors making good power but only one turns in reverse. Also mark the one that turns in reverse and also mark the orginal timing by scribing a mark on motor can.

Thanks a lot HighRoller. I'll give that a shot. I think I'll pick up something in the 15-17 turn range for good torque. Jer
