I was looking at the new August issue and found something interesting on the 14th Cactus Classic article . When you look at page 145 , you see a car on fire !!! I know no gas was there so how did it happen ! Is the guy with the spray can adding to the fire or trying to put it out ? And is the car a Losi XX - 4 ( sure looks like it is ). And last who did it ?

I read an article in Xtreme ( sorry guys ) and it taked about people spraying their tires with motor spray and then lighnting them on fire . I don ' t have the article in front of me , but I think they said it softened the tires . Seem a little stupid to be mixing fire with $ 600 of r / c even if you got it for free .

The car - on - fire shot wasn ' t supposed to go into the mag , it was a mistake . Anyway , they ' re probably spraying it with motor spray . It ' s dumb , I can tell you that much . If you ' ve got cars to burn , give them away instead .
As for spraying and igniting tires , the idea is to burn off any mold - release residue that may be on the tires ( drivers at the Winterchamps were doing this ). The motor spray alone will clean the tire , you don ' t need to ignite the stuff . There ' s just too much flammable stuff around the pits to be playing with fire , in my opinion . Fuel , motor spray , rags . pit towels , paper , McDonalds bags ... it ' s just not the place for an open flame .
