Over at http :// rcvehicles . about . com I have read , in their ' Equipment Info Headquarters ', How Servos Work .

This has led to a question of compatability between servos and receivers :

Since each servo could require different PCM codes , how can you make sure that the receiver you buy will communicate properly with it ?

Example :
I am looking to get the Airtronics M8 ( with an Airtronics receiver ) but I also like the specs on the Futaba S9404 Servo ... will they work togeather ?

Oh ! BTW can you mix & match receivers w / out a problem too ?

If these questions are covered by a book , just point me to it http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

Thanks ,

Dave ,
I just replied to your other post .

As long as the Airtronics is " Z " connector ( it should be ) any of the current name brand servo ' s will work with the receiver regardless of PCM or PPM ( FM ). Find a servo that has the specs / price you desire and get it . You may have to shave an ear off or trim the plug a little , but it ' s really not a problem . If your thinking about the M8 that ' s awesome , and my personal favorite . It may be the easiest radio to use ( I think so ).

Receivers - Make sure they are compatable with the brand and the band ( 27 or 75 ) and there shouldn ' t be any conflicts . Hope I helped .

Great ! I can ' t thank you enough for clearing that up .

Looks like I am going with the M8 package from towerhobbies . com , and the futaba S9404 servo for steering . I hope that will be the right choice for the Factory Team RC10GT ... time to break the piggy bank lol .

Thanks again Derek !
